Owen moved to Tampa in 2005 from Washington, DC. Before that he lived in San Diego, CA. He was born in Swindon, Wiltshire, United Kingdom and grew up traveling the world - mostly throughout the Far East (his dad was in the U.S. Navy). His first musical instrument was the trumpet at age six and then piano and age nine. He started playing guitar when he was 14, and had his first regular "paying" band gig at 16. Owen also plays bass guitar, some drums, and the saxophone. Owen served in the Marine Corps for some years and now works as an Executive-level Strategic Analysis and Planning Consultant in Tampa with his parent company located in Washington, DC that means lots of travel! He attended the University of Maryland, Villanova University and the National Defense University. Owen's musical interests are as different as night and day. He is a jazz purist at heart, but is into fusion, heavy metal, pop rock, classic rock, and alternative - he likes it all and plays it all! Owen has had formal music theory training and has performed in jazz bands and stage bands while he was in school. He has performed in Japan, San Diego, Los Angeles, Richmond, Washington, DC, Baltimore and Providence, R.I., to name but a few cities. He has considerable studio time and has done session work as a rhythm guitarist for several groups. Owen is the "tech-geek" of the band. If you don't find him under a car tweaking the engine to get more horsepower, you'll find him tearing apart the sound system equipment racks looking for a more "pure" signal path. There is no gadget to small for Owen - he loves his "gear!" His hobbies include competitive running, swimming, SCUBA diving, soccer, football, fast cars, rock climbing, and flying (he is an FAA-certified pilot). His favorite saying: "It ain't over til' it's over!" Band Nickname: "Dawg" |
